Transformative Leader in Advanced Research Computing

We are seeking a visionary Chief Research Computing Officer to spearhead our advanced research computing initiatives. This pivotal role requires an exceptional leader who can foster collaboration, drive innovation, and propel our institution's research endeavors forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary guidance on advanced research computing strategies, aligning with the institution's research priorities.
  • Team Management: Lead a high-performing team of technical experts, fostering a culture of excellence, respect, and inclusivity.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess expert knowledge of high-performance computing systems, large-scale data storage solutions, cloud computing, and related software tools.
  • Grant Support: Assist researchers in securing funding for computational resources through effective grant proposal development and technical consultation.
  • Infrastructure Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to design, implement, and manage advanced research computing infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with technology vendors, negotiating service-level agreements and managing vendor contracts to ensure timely delivery of ARC services.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in Advanced Research Computing, with increasing responsibility and some supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in an academic environment, preferably in a research setting.
  • Proven track record of managing complex computing infrastructures and leading technical teams and projects.
  • Strong understanding of computational needs and challenges in academic research.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively cope with multiple demands and resolve priority conflicts in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Compensation Package:

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000-$150,000, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth.
