Job Title: Senior Inspector

Our Transportation Division provides planning, design and construction administration services for roadway, highway, transit / rail, bridge and related projects. We are currently seeking a Senior Inspector to complement our transportation team in the Greater Toronto area to play a lead role in the delivery of environmental assessment and functional / preliminary and detail design assignments primarily for public sector clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts site surveys, confirming scope of work, obtaining relevant information, equipment and materials and maintains quality and payment records in a daily diary for the work completed
  • Compiles field / test data in a report form for review by the Contract Administrator
  • Liaise / Coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and / or testing to ensure the tasks are completed in accordance with the terms or reference, specifications or agreement
  • Attends site meetings as required
  • Obtains video / photographic records as required
  • Records, reviews and addresses contractor questions and clarifications by reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution if not already provided to the contractor
  • Attends site meetings and reconnaissance on site
  • Able to hand multiple priorities without losing focus
Qualifications:
  • A Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in engineering/construction
  • Prior experience inspecting transportation structures and working on bridges, culverts and/or retaining walls
  • Either registration as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. or Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO
  • Designation as determined by O.A.C.E.T.T. as a Road Construction Senior Inspector (rcsi) is an asset
  • Able to work overtime, on weekends and nights, as required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office an asset
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle is required
  • Detail oriented
