About the Opportunity
Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Forensic Psychiatrist to join our team at the East Coast Forensic Hospital (ECFH). As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to patients within the hospital's rehabilitation programs and correctional services.
The ECFH is an academic hospital affiliated with Dalhousie University's Department of Psychiatry. Our team works closely with faculty members who are part of the Department of Psychiatry, providing general psychiatric services to patients in the Central Zone and specialty services across the province.
You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values evidence-based practice, innovation, and collaboration. You will be responsible for providing forensic psychiatric care, including court assessments, rehabilitation programs, acute and long-term treatment, and correction psychiatry. Your role will also involve leadership and consultation with a multi-disciplinary team.
We offer a highly competitive Academic Funding Plan, which pays for time spent in clinical service, teaching, and research. Successful candidates will receive academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience as per university protocols. Enhancements based on academic rank, leadership, etc., are also available.

Responsibilities:
- Provide forensic psychiatric care to patients within the hospital's rehabilitation programs and correctional services.
- Conduct court assessments, rehabilitation programs, acute and long-term treatment, and correction psychiatry.
- Lead and consult with a multi-disciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, case coordinators, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, and nurses.
- Participate in a psychiatry on-call schedule as required within the program.
