Job Title: Accounting Technician
Job Summary:
MNP is seeking an experienced Accounting Technician to join our team. As an Accounting Technician, you will play a key role in providing financial support to our clients, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining the integrity of our financial systems.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain government remittances, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, and payroll transactions.
- Set up client files, assist with budget completion, and perform administrative planning and other accounting tasks.
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close processes, maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions.
- Communicate with governments, suppliers, and clients, and work with accounting software to provide support to clients.
- Develop and maintain relationships with client management, contribute to process improvements, and raise awareness of MNP at community events.
- Attend internal courses to further develop accounting and assurance knowledge.
Requirements:
- Completion of an Accounting certificate or Administration (Accounting or Finance major considered an asset).
- Entry-level to 4 years of accounting-related experience.
- Working knowledge of trial balances, general ledger databases, financial statement close processes, and accounting matters.
- Experience in preparing T4s and T5s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferred.
- Understanding of payroll, bookkeeping, and record-keeping practices on manual and computerized systems is considered an asset.
- Experience working with accounting and tax software such as QuickBooks, TaxPrep, and Caseware.
- Strong computer literacy, including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
