Job SummaryThis role requires a highly organized individual with strong communication skills to work as a Laboratory Assistant Data Entry Clerk in our Core Laboratory Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for receiving patients, collecting blood specimens, processing specimens, and performing receptionist duties.
Responsibilities- Receive patients by verifying demographic information, checking requisitions, and entering data into the computer system.
- Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture and skin puncture methods.
- Prepare specimens for analysis by checking identification, separating serum or plasma from cells, and preparing blood films.
- Process specimens by sorting, labeling, logging data, and batching them for distribution.
- Schedule patient appointments using our computerized scheduling system.
- Perform ECG testing by attaching electrodes and running reports.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A Grade 12 education and completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, plus one year of recent experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to operate related equipment and keyboard efficiently.
- A physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- A commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments.
