Job Summary

This role requires a highly organized individual with strong communication skills to work as a Laboratory Assistant Data Entry Clerk in our Core Laboratory Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for receiving patients, collecting blood specimens, processing specimens, and performing receptionist duties.

Responsibilities
  • Receive patients by verifying demographic information, checking requisitions, and entering data into the computer system.
  • Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture and skin puncture methods.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis by checking identification, separating serum or plasma from cells, and preparing blood films.
  • Process specimens by sorting, labeling, logging data, and batching them for distribution.
  • Schedule patient appointments using our computerized scheduling system.
  • Perform ECG testing by attaching electrodes and running reports.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Grade 12 education and completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, plus one year of recent experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to operate related equipment and keyboard efficiently.
  • A physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • A commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments.

Salary Range

The estimated salary for this role is between $55,000 and $70,000 per year, depending on experience.
