Job Description

We are seeking a talented lawyer to join our legal team, providing product counseling and negotiating agreements for procurement, inbound licensing, partnerships, and product integrations. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with business stakeholders, guiding strategies and communicating legal risk. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring our business teams stay agile and innovative.

About the Role

We are looking for a curious, passionate, and driven commercial lawyer with experience and a strong interest in technology. You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating complex legal agreements, providing legal counsel on new product developments, and managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines. Your ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and on an individual basis, without a lot of guidance or oversight, is essential.

Requirements
  1. A J.D. or LL.B.
  2. A license to practice law in any common law province in Canada (preferably Ontario and/or Quebec).
  3. Relevant legal experience, ideally having started out at a top-tier law firm, followed by in-house experience.
  4. Substantial experience drafting and negotiating complex legal agreements, such as strategic partnerships, goods and services, software, and other licensing arrangements.
  5. Substantial experience providing legal counsel on new product developments, including drafting terms of service and associated policies.
  6. Experience leading and managing projects, and managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines.
  7. A keen interest in creative legal problem-solving, including researching novel and ambiguous areas of law.
  8. Experience managing external legal counsel.
  9. Exceptional business judgment and relationship-building skills.
  10. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  11. The ability to thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
