Community Outreach Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Outreach Coordinator to join our team at Thompson Rivers University. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing community outreach strategies to promote our services and build relationships with community groups and organizations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement community outreach plans to promote our services and build relationships with community groups and organizations.
- Conduct community outreach operations, including meeting with community groups, arranging public legal education events, and developing promotional materials.
- Provide training to students on identifying clients who may require non-legal services and making effective referrals to such services.
- Liaise with community groups and individual clients to ensure they are aware of the legal services we can provide and to connect them with appropriate social services.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and implement strategies to improve our understanding of the services provided by community organizations.
- Minimum of three years of experience working in relevant areas, such as social work, counseling, or non-profit management.
- General knowledge of the legal system and its impact on low-income individuals.
- Knowledge of community groups and social services, and the ability to access them locally.
- Demonstrated ability to make presentations to small groups and to work effectively with challenging clients.
- Ability to recognize and diffuse stressful situations and to deal with people in a sensitive and respectful manner.
- Substantial experience working or volunteering in the non-profit sector.
- Flexible schedule and ability to work part-time (average 16 hours per week).
This is an in-person part-time position, and the successful candidate will be expected to work an average of 16 hours per week. The position may be scheduled flexibly.
What We OfferWe offer a competitive salary range of $26,000 to $32,000, depending on experience, and a benefits package and RRSP matching option.
