Roofing Apprentice Job Description

Flynn Canada Ltd. is seeking a Roofing Apprentice to join our team. As a Roofing Apprentice, you will assist skilled roofers in installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of roofs, including built-up roofing systems and metal roofs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in installing built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel.
  • Help in installing or replacing asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes, and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings.
  • Support in installing single-ply roofing systems using waterproof sheet materials, such as modified plastics, elastomeric, or other asphaltic compositions.
  • Assist in repairing or replacing single-ply roofing systems.
  • Participate in instructing apprentices.
  • Assist in installing and repairing metal roofs using hand and power tools.
Work Environment:

As a Roofing Apprentice, you will work in a fast-paced environment with physically demanding tasks that require bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads. You will work under pressure and may be required to work overtime.

Requirements:
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in the roofing industry.
  • Dependability, excellent oral and written communication skills, and reliability are essential.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic.
