At Starlight Investments, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Strategist to lead our development projects and maximize value.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to join our team and drive our development strategy forward. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Development, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire development process, from assessing new opportunities to ensuring high-quality project delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Opportunity Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of new accretive development opportunities in existing portfolios, identifying infill and expansion possibilities that align with our business objectives.
  • Strategic Advice: Provide expert guidance to asset management teams on suite creation and optimization, ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards.
  • Project Collaboration: Work closely with asset managers and investment teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Feasibility Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial and planning feasibility analysis to determine the viability of opportunities and associated returns.
  • Process Improvement: Promote best practices within the development team by working closely with members, enhancing process efficiency to accelerate development cycle times and returns.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Provide strategic input and present plans and designs to external stakeholders and senior management, effectively communicating the value proposition of our projects.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential impediments to expansion/development and develop solutions with internal stakeholders and consultant teams, mitigating risks and ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Leadership: Lead project teams through full approvals processes, including regulatory requirements, ensuring timely completion and quality deliverables.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a proven track record of success in real estate development, coupled with excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Key qualifications include:

  • A university degree in Business, Engineering, Urban Planning, or Architecture.
  • A minimum of five years of business experience, including approval processes and collaboration with external consultants and municipalities.
  • Strong knowledge of construction/architectural concepts and financial pro-formas.
  • Extensive experience with planning, approvals, and project management.
  • The ability to lead, prioritize deadlines, and build strong relationships with diverse groups.
  • Autonomy to make decisions, problem-solve, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
