Strategic Advisor to the Deputy Minister

The Deputy Minister's Office is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to fill the role of Executive Advisor. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and represent the Deputy Minister's office on inter-branch projects in the ministry as well as inter-ministry projects. Your responsibilities will be multifaceted and include:
- Policy Analysis: Review and analyze sensitive internal and public documents for consistency and provide advice to the Deputy Minister on program, policy, and administrative issues.
- Project Management: Manage and coordinate various projects on behalf of the Deputy Minister's Office, ensuring confidentiality and timely completion.
- Communication: Share useful and relevant information with others and explain the rationale behind decisions, using a collaborative approach and superior negotiation skills to persuade and convince others to achieve goals or resolve problems.
- Leadership: Demonstrate leadership qualities to coach and motivate team members and others within the ministry, providing operational consistency and ensuring timely handling of issue identification, management, and resolution.
In addition to these responsibilities, you will be expected to:
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the government's strategic direction and the ministry's goals and strategies.
- Analyze and comprehend ministry goals and strategies and understand how they relate to the government's strategic direction.
- Develop and maintain a strong, collegial relationship within the Ministry and the Office of the Minister of Finance to address/resolve issues and situations which require confidential, tactful management and communication.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of building partnerships with ministry senior leaders to proactively offer solutions and influence change.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to analyze and comprehend complex information and provide clear, concise advice.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to plan and manage work in an effective manner, track achievements, and meet deadlines.
