About the Role

Rio Contracting Inc. is seeking a skilled Masonry Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our construction crew, you will be responsible for laying bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry units to build residential and commercial structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate and Prepare Materials: Calculate the materials, tools, and equipment required for projects and prepare them for use.
  • Lay Bricks and Masonry Units: Lay bricks, stone, or similar materials to provide veneer facing and construct and install prefabricated masonry units.
  • Read Blueprints and Specifications: Read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required and ensure projects are completed to specifications.
  • Work at Heights: Work at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages to complete tasks.
  • Supervise and Instruct: Supervise other workers and instruct apprentices on masonry techniques and best practices.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Work Setting: Construction, repair, renovation, commercial, industrial, and residential settings.
  • Physical Demands: Physically demanding work requiring handling heavy loads, standing for extended periods, and bending, crouching, and kneeling.
Personal Qualities
  • Accurate and Reliable: Accurate and reliable with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Team Player: A team player with efficient interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach.
