Job Summary

The Electrical Estimator will prepare estimates on electrical construction projects. In addition, the Estimator may provide technical support to project operations with emphasis on estimating, reporting, and monitoring progress and dealing with project change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, engineers, and contractors in the industry.
  • Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects based on contract drawings and specifications.
  • Establish and maintain tendering process, set up cost monitoring, reporting systems, and procedures.
  • Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers, and architects regarding tenders.
  • Participate in site review, tender review, and tender hand-off.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in material and equipment purchasing for secure jobs.

Education Requirements
  • A College Diploma in Construction or Engineering Technology or a University Degree in Engineering, or relevant education background.
  • Experience in the electrical trade may substitute for education requirements.
Work Experience Requirements
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience with electrical construction projects.
Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of scheduling, planning, and execution.
  • Cost Estimating.
  • Established electrical practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent ability to think critically and problem solve.
  • Effective communication skills verbal and written.
