Electrical Designer or Engineer

New Flyer is a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses, and we're seeking an experienced Electrical Designer or Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Electrical New Product Development (NPD) team, you will be responsible for completing engineering design tasks and projects related to electrical and PLC programming.

Responsibilities
  • Execute and complete engineering design tasks and project assignments in support of prototyping/testing & product development activities per NPD product development processes.
  • Coordinate own tasks to ensure deadlines are met per project schedule and applicable lead times.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and all applicable standards and regulations.
  • Check engineering documents, instructions to service, shop floor instructions and other documents as authorized.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Registered (or eligible to be registered) as a Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist.
  • Three or more years of design experience, and demonstrating ability to achieve performance objectives.
  • Proficient in designs involving multiplexing systems for heavy-duty vehicles, CAN bus networks, and sensor interfacing.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with engineering analysis tools.
  • Working experience in electrical integration of automotive systems for heavy-duty buses and coaches, including communication between various vehicle subsystems, and compliance with automotive standards such as SAE J1939, ISO 11898 and ISO 26262.
