As a key member of our team at FortisBC, you will play a vital role in overseeing the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to our customers in the Fraser Valley region.

As an Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, capital construction projects, and emergency response procedures, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and the integrity of our assets and equipment.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, customers, contractors, and municipal agencies to establish and maintain effective relationships and drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of unionized employees to meet daily requirements, commitments, and projects.
  • Familiarize yourself with software and applications used to schedule and complete deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels in collaboration with internal resources.
  • Manage contracted services in accordance with established terms and conditions.
  • Participate in the recruitment process, interview, and select new employees to the team.
  • Coach, mentor, and support your team to support performance, quality of work, and ongoing training and development of staff.
  • Utilize your field experience and technical knowledge to solve work-related problems and collaborate with others.
  • Travel to work sites to provide quality oversight and maintain compliance with work and industry standards, applicable metrics, and service level agreements.
  • Maintain an inclusive, safe, and healthy workplace for your team and others.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following procedures and practices, including site safe work planning, providing safety information and supplies, participating in incident investigations, and utilizing your financial knowledge to provide oversight of budgets, third-party contracts, and internal service agreements.

Requirements:

  • Five years of management experience with a focus on natural gas infrastructure. Post-secondary diploma considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in construction, underground utilities, and emergency response is an asset.
  • A passion for developing quality solutions with a safety-focused mindset.
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to strengthening connections in the workplace.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, such as Word and Excel.
