Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at Summit Truck and Equipment Repair, a leading provider of heavy equipment and commercial transport repair services in the West Kootenays. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for performing quality repairs and preventative maintenance services on heavy trucks and trailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, and mobile equipment such as forklifts and loaders.
  • Inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, and perform mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems using computerized and other testing equipment.
  • Perform incidental welding repairs on equipment.
  • Train and assist junior mechanics with their work.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
Requirements
  • Journeyman Truck and Transport Mechanic or Journeyman Trailer Mechanic ticket.
  • Experience in commercial truck and trailer repairs, including brake, suspension, electrical, and emission systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Benefits
  • Competitive hourly rate of $35-40 per hour, depending on experience.
  • 4 on/4 off rotation with 11 hour day shifts, no night shifts.
  • Excellent work/life balance, with 4 straight days off in the Kootenays every week.
