Job Title: Environmental Project Coordinator

Metrolinx is a leading transportation agency in the Greater Golden Horseshoe region, connecting communities through its GO Transit and UP Express services, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are committed to building a sustainable and equitable transportation system, and we are seeking an Environmental Project Coordinator to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Environmental Project Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring that our transportation infrastructure projects meet the highest environmental standards. This includes coordinating environmental assessments, developing mitigation strategies, and working with stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate environmental assessments and develop mitigation strategies for transportation infrastructure projects
  • Work with stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans for projects
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform environmental decision-making
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into project planning and delivery
Requirements:
  • University/college diploma in Environmental/Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in environmental assessment and compliance, preferably in the transportation sector
  • Knowledge of Ontario and Canadian environmental regulations, including the Environmental Assessment Act and the Ontario Environmental Protection Act
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
