**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Litigation Assistant to join our dynamic litigation team at Marks & Clerk. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support to our professionals and law clerks focusing on IP Litigation, with a particular emphasis on assisting our Co-Head of Litigation.

This is a unique opportunity for learning, autonomy, and development in IP Litigation, with a focus on delivering exceptional results and exceeding client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage due dates and filing deadlines, maintaining a comprehensive filing system for documents and compiling and organizing materials.
  • Provide general practice administration, including preparing routine correspondence, processing client invoicing and third-party payables, and expense reimbursement.
  • Assist law clerks in liaising with and booking Court dates, and assist with preparing court forms as requested.
  • Manage client administrative and billing requirements, and conduct conflict searching.
  • Assist with organizing work schedules by maintaining calendar and contacts, scheduling appointments, and coordinating travel arrangements.
  • Become an expert in the firm's policies and all applicable administrative procedures.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by providing support to other practice group professionals and staff, as requested, whenever workload permits.
  • Maintain a positive and professional relationship with external legal counsel, Courts, agencies, and professional organizations with whom the litigation professional(s) work.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested.

Requirements:

  • Legal Assistant Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years in a litigation role working in an IP environment
  • Experience liaising with the Federal Court
  • Experience working with the Ontario Courts is an asset
  • Proactive and organized
  • Strong proofreading skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong Microsoft Suite skills
  • Familiarity with iManage is an asset
