Job Summary:

The Native Community Worker will provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support to Indigenous youth and families, focusing on education, employment, and community development. This role requires a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and experiences, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement community outreach programs and services to support Indigenous youth and families.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions, as well as case management and advocacy services.
  • Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to identify and address the needs of Indigenous youth and families.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform program development and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and leaders.
  • Provide training and education to staff and community members on Indigenous cultural competency and trauma-informed practices.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., social work, Indigenous studies, community development).
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and populations.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
