Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Retail Procurement Specialist to join our team at North Island College.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for procuring materials and supplies to support retail operations, including inventory management and liaison with faculty and department chairs. Key duties include deciding on the best sources of supply, negotiating purchase terms, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Responsibilities
  • Acquire supplies, equipment, and services for retail operations, developing and establishing continuous sources of supply and negotiating prices and terms.
  • Assist in developing a strong policy framework for college purchasing within provincial and federal frameworks.
  • Ensure adherence to external legal requirements regarding procurement, such as new legislation and regulations.
  • Initiate, develop, and implement purchasing procedures and processes that align with college policies.
  • Continuously reconcile and review retail inventory, reporting discrepancies and resolving issues with the finance team.
  • Support the Retail department staff by providing functional support and guidance as required.
  • Maintain the approved vendor list, communicate expectations to vendors, and analyze their performance.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary diploma, SCMP - Supply Chain Management designation, and 3 years of progressive purchasing experience in a complex environment. A good understanding of financial accounting procedures is advantageous.

Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities, are essential. The ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects is also required.

A salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, is expected for this position. The College offers a comprehensive benefits package, including extended health and dental coverage, pension plan, and generous vacation time.
