Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Breton Medical Clinic, a family medicine clinic located within the Breton Continuing Care Centre. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Function as an LPN and Medical Office Assistant, assisting physicians in the day-to-day operation of the clinic.
  • Assist in the LTC department of the facility, performing duties such as book appointments, creating new patient records, and checking patients in.
  • Ensure contact information is up-to-date, escort patients to treatment/exam rooms, and clean exam rooms between patients.
  • Stock exam rooms, make specialist referrals, set up advanced diagnostic imaging appointments, and track patient results and reports.
  • Order office supplies, equipment, and clinic supplies, and check and record blood pressures.
  • Conduct urinalysis and urine HCG, collect patient weight and height, and provide wound care.
  • Assist with RAIs, care planning, assessments, IDT meetings, and patient care in LTC.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Able to maintain daily operations of the clinic with minimal supervision.
  • Computer skills and good interpersonal skills and communication skills with members of the public, residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within LTC.
  • Knowledge of the CCHSS.
