Procurement Specialist

Science North is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Officer to lead the efficient and fair procurement of goods and services for our organization. The successful candidate will have a minimum five years' experience in a similar procurement role, ideally in the Ontario public sector.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve cost savings and improve efficiency
- Lead the development of tender/proposal call documents and ensure a fair and open process when requesting, receiving, and evaluating quotations, proposals, and tenders
- Analyze tender/proposal submissions against established criteria and recommend contract award and/or review the evaluation process and scoring of offers to ensure compliance against established criteria
- Implement and oversee a standard vendor management process, including the creation of tools to evaluate KPIs
- Analyze spending patterns to identify prominent suppliers and seek preferred pricing arrangements to help reduce costs
- Train and support staff throughout the organization to ensure compliance with Science North's procurement policies and processes
- Develop related tools to streamline procurement processes
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on industry best practices and the Broader Public Procurement Standards
- Support the revision of the procurement policy and processes as required
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual procurement reporting requirements
The successful candidate will possess a working knowledge of the provincial Procurement Directives and have a basic understanding of contract law and related legislation. The candidate's technical knowledge and experience will be supported by exceptional communications (written and verbal), excellent interpersonal skills, and superior problem-solving, organization/time management, and negotiation skills.
