Job Overview
The Packing Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of our packing hall machinery, producing high-quality products while adhering to safety standards and production schedules.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the packing hall machinery, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Review production schedules with the supervisor and prepare the test and setup line for production runs.
- Adjust machine settings to optimize performance and produce high-quality products.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to good manufacturing practices and food safety guidelines.
- Monitor machinery during operation and make necessary adjustments to address any issues or defects.
- Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and follow up with repairs to ensure production readiness.
- Communicate equipment concerns or deficiencies to Maintenance immediately to ensure timely repairs.
- Follow established equipment setup procedures and review effectiveness of set points.
- Maintain awareness of and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Meet daily and weekly production targets.
- Minimize downtime and optimize machine operation to reduce waste and maximize output.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
To succeed as a Packing Technician at RDJ Bakeries, you should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating similar machinery in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and make machine adjustments.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Basic math skills for measuring and adjusting machine settings.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including production orders and machine manuals.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Environment
- Work indoors.
- May be exposed to hot temperatures from ovens.
- May work close to others, usually within a few feet.
- Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting, and temperature.
Physical Demands
- Standing involved.
- May repeat the same movement.
- Often wear safety equipment such as gloves, hair nets, steel-toed safety shoes/boots, and beard nets.
- Willingness to work in a noisy and sometimes hot manufacturing environment.
- Ability to bend or twist their body.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
