The Opportunity

As a skilled Truck and Coach Shop Technician, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service and technical expertise to our customers. Your primary focus will be on the testing, diagnosing, repair, and reconditioning of diesel engines and transmission components in a shop environment.

The Role

  • Inspect and diagnose engine and transmission components to ensure optimal performance.
  • Communicate with the service manager to obtain authorization for servicing and repairs as required.
  • Service and repair equipment in the shop to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Recondition and remanufacture components as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with staff and management to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
  • Communicate equipment servicing needs with the Branch Supervisor/Manager to ensure timely and effective maintenance.
  • Complete service paperwork and update service records to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Participate in manufacturers' and in-house service training to stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and techniques.
  • Comply with the Health & Safety program and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform daily duties in a manner conducive to a safe workplace.
  • Work with manufacturers' online support to resolve technical issues and improve service efficiency.
  • Maintain a professional company image at all times.
  • Meet the requirements of Field/Shop Level Hazard and Job Hazard assessments.

The Candidate

  • Education: Trade certification, Journeyman Red Seal, and/or current registration in a related Provincial Apprenticeship program.
  • Work Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge: Proficient written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to work with customers; exceptional customer service; demonstrated mechanical aptitude, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Detroit and Allison engines is considered an asset.
