About the Role

Genuine Canadian Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Transportation and Customs Compliance Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our logistics and compliance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless movement of freight through our supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation Operations
    • Collaborate with freight forwarders, vendors, and global sourcing teams to ensure accurate freight movement and make system adjustments as needed.
    • Manage in-transit visibility of shipments from origin to final delivery.
    • Liaise with logistics management teams to optimize transit time, maintain supply-chain efficiency, and minimize costs.
    • Support management of freight forwarders, customs brokers, and global sourcing offices to manage inbound freight and meet cost and on-time-in-full (OTIF) metrics.
    • Accrue transportation budget and monitor additional inbound freight.
    • Provide analytical support to internal and external partners, including supply chain teams, procurement, finance, and freight forwarders.
    • Identify and propose system improvements and implement opportunities for enhancements.
    • Liaise cross-functionally with various departments to resolve and coordinate logistics issues.
    • Analyze and act on daily and weekly transportation reports to support inbound prioritization between DC leadership and freight forwarders and carriers.
    • Utilize Transportation Management System (TMS) daily, with subject matter expertise in the Infor Nexus TMS system to identify, manage, and escalate shipment risks.
    • Communicate business needs to external partners, including customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and agents, to improve global operating procedures.
    • Manage freight bill audit and payment to ensure timely and accurate invoice payment.
    • Act as a backup for the Transportation and Customs Compliance Manager.
  • Customs Compliance Functions
    • Audit customs documents and invoices for compliance with CBSA regulations.
    • Analyze B3 accounting to ensure correct HS duty rates have been applied.
    • Create and maintain HTS database to meet customs information and distribute to key personnel, brokers, and vendors.
Requirements
  • Must Have
    • Analytical skills to analyze data and identify discrepancies for compliance and data quality, developing strategies to mitigate any risks.
    • Knowledge of TMS and customs regulations, including Incoterms, ocean route optimization, import/export regulations, HS classification, and trade compliance.
    • Risk assessment skills to assess potential risks associated with specific routes, labor disruptions, or geopolitical factors, making informed decisions and mitigating risk to inbound shipments.
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Excel, and Tableau.
    • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to articulate these skills in effective Excel or Tableau models.
    • Utilize excellent judgment and decision-making skills under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to communicate and work with a wide variety of audiences, internal and external, both business and technical.
    • Exceptional prioritization and project management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Preferred Skills and Experience
    • College degree preferred in business, logistics, import/export compliance, warehouse management, or supply chain development or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation, distribution, or supply chain retail apparel.
