The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team at Maple Leaf Foods. As a key member of our Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) department, you will play a critical role in assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of our OHS programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of safe work procedures and training programs to ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and investigations to identify and mitigate health and safety risks and hazards.
  • Assist in claims management and maintain accurate records of incidents and near-misses.
  • Design and deliver training programs for workers, management, and Safety Committee members.
  • Ensure documentation is up-to-date and filed for quick reference.
  • Support the JHSC with scheduling meetings and ensuring workplace inspections are completed.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in health and safety or a related field.
  • Knowledge of health and safety laws and legislation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, and analytical skills.
  • 1-3 years of experience in health and safety.
  • Computer skills – Strong proficiency in Excel and Word is required.
