Main Job Summary

The City of Vancouver is seeking a skilled Cook Grill Worker to join our team at one of our three professional City Golf Courses. As a key member of our Food & Beverage Operations Team, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, including banquet and buffet functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare light meals and short orders from an established menu, adhering to principles of proper food handling, preparation, and storage.
  • Work in a team environment, following standardized recipes and methods to prepare various foods, including vegetables, meats, soups, salads, and baking.
  • Handle cash transactions, assisting with covering breaks and shift overlaps as needed.
  • Ensure the plating and presentation of food meet specifications, cooking for a varying number of guests during peak and non-peak times.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen, following hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules, and performing other related tasks as required.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to all patrons, ensuring compliance with liquor licensing regulations at all times.

Requirements

  • High school education preferred.
  • Valid Food Safe Certification is required.
  • Valid Serving it Right certification is a strong asset.
  • Experience with preparing and cooking a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals.
  • Experience cooking for banquet or buffet events.
  • Experience working in a similar unionized Food and Beverage team environment is desired.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to operate, maintain, and clean standard cooking and kitchen equipment.
  • Working knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 20 kg.
  • Ability to provide exemplary customer service.
