Principal Pipeline Engineer

BMT Canada is seeking a highly experienced Principal Pipeline Engineer to join our team and contribute to the enhancement of our capacity and capability. As a senior member of our Infrastructure and Materials & Structures teams, you will work closely with our technical and management team to execute and direct technical projects, provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff, and manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
- Executing and directing technical projects related to pipeline and pressure vessel design and integrity assessment.
- Providing guidance and mentoring to junior staff to ensure their professional growth and development.
- Writing, reviewing, and contributing to project reports to ensure accurate and timely communication.
- Managing and contributing to multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
- Leading technical projects related to pipeline and pressure vessel design and integrity assessment, considering pressure, geotechnical, and thermal loading.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant Canadian and US pipeline and energy sector standards and codes of practice.
- Supporting project and business management to drive business growth and development.
- Identifying opportunities for technology and staff improvement to enhance our capabilities and services.
- Supporting recruitment of additional staff to meet business needs and objectives.
About You
We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Principal Pipeline Engineer who possesses the following qualifications and skills:
- At least 15 years of related engineering experience in the North American Energy Pipeline and/or Industrial Plant Service sector.
- Proven engineering skills and a valid Professional Engineering license.
- Post-Graduate degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Civil Engineering is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering applied to the energy sector, including pipeline and pressure vessel design and integrity assessment.
- Leadership and management experience, with a proven track record of leading client relationships and business promotion/sales.
- Experience working in a consulting environment, with a strong understanding of industry standards and codes of practice.
- Proven ability to work in a small fast-paced team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
