Cooper Equipment Rentals: A Career in Heavy Duty Mechanics

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic Trainee to join our team at our Lethbridge, AB branch. As an apprentice mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our diverse fleet of construction equipment.

About the Job

The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical principles and experience working with various types of heavy-duty equipment. You will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, and repairing equipment, as well as maintaining accurate records and adhering to health and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and diagnose issues with heavy-duty equipment, including earth-moving equipment, compaction equipment, and aerial lifts.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and filter replacements.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn-out parts, ensuring equipment is returned to optimal condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including time spent on tasks and materials used.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and ensure seamless operations.

Requirements

  • 2nd or 3rd year registered apprenticeship in Heavy Duty Mechanics.
  • Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to work overtime as required and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with computer applications and diagnostic tools.
