Position Overview

FortisBC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Community & Indigenous Initiatives Intern in our Community and Indigenous Initiatives department. This is a temporary 2-year position as part of the Indigenous Intern Leadership Program (IILP).

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with local communities, municipalities, and Indigenous communities
  • Support the Community & Indigenous Initiatives team in various tasks, including stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and event planning
  • Develop and deliver presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to convey complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Good verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

As part of the program expectations, all successful candidates are required to:

  • Work with their university to prepare application documents
  • Commit to a two-year employment placement
  • Fulfill all job requirements as agreed to with their employer
