Your Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Foothills Medical Center Pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective daily operation of our departmental services and programs, leading to safe and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, repackaging, and final product checking of sterile and non-sterile products, individual patient prescriptions, and ward stock.
  • Providing guidance to and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students.
  • Providing clinical support through obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifying discrepancies and/or collecting and organizing information to support the provision of direct patient care.
  • Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as aseptic technique, computer order entry, and final product checking.
  • Participating in special projects and programs as assigned.
  • Maintaining department records, statistics, and preparing reports as required.

About the Role:

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication, and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning.
  • FMC experience is preferred.
  • Membership with a pharmacy professional organization is preferred.
  • Experience in a Clinical Support Technician Role is preferred.
  • EPIC Willow experience is preferred.
  • Retail experience is an asset.
