Project Controls Specialist

Job Summary
The Project Controls Specialist will support construction activities by planning, organizing, and implementing management duties. This role will provide project administration or support to a Senior Project Engineer on larger projects and manage technical and administrative staff to facilitate instruction management services.
About the Role
This position will begin in the GTA area but will be required to travel/relocate to various projects throughout Canada and the US. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated willingness to relocate and have infrastructure/heavy civil project experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures that arise or may be encountered.
- Inspect subordinates' work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications.
- Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software.
- Manage document control and review new issue drawings and contract documents.
- Prepare monthly cost projections and quarterly cash flow projections.
- Improve project operations by recommending better methods, staffing, and procedural changes.
- Act as managing project engineer/coordinator on multiple projects.
- Manage and support project team including direct reports and others as needed.
- Help drive the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience and education in project or field engineering.
- Professional Engineer designation strongly recommended.
- 5+ years experience in construction or engineering field.
- Demonstrated willingness to relocate.
- Infrastructure/Heavy Civil project experience required.
- Proven abilities and skills in leadership and management of people, communication, planning, organization, delegation, teaching, and mentoring.
- Ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity for subordinates.
- Working knowledge and ability to direct the operation of at least the following management systems: accounts payable/accounts receivable, materials control, estimating, job cost updates, and subcontracts.
