Job Title: Personal Support Worker

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker to join our team at Barrie's Special Care Homes. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our residents, enabling them to maintain their independence and dignity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer bedside and personal care, ensuring the comfort and well-being of our residents.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
  • Assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene, promoting their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Assist in regular exercise, such as walking, to maintain mobility and flexibility.
  • Collect specimens for medical testing, as required.
  • Feed or assist in feeding, ensuring our residents receive nutritious meals.
  • Provide companionship and social interaction, helping to combat loneliness and isolation.
  • Provide personal care, including assistance with daily living activities.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
  • Physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift, bend, and move with ease.
  • Repetitive tasks, requiring attention to detail and organizational skills.
Personal Suitability:
  • Punctuality and reliability, ensuring our residents receive consistent care and support.
  • Organized and efficient, managing multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Team player, working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
Experience:
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field, such as healthcare or social services.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees:
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
Support for Youths:
  • Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
Support for Indigenous People:
  • Offers mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
Support for Mature Workers:
  • Provides staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers.
Support for Visible Minorities:
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities.
