Industrial Vacuum Truck Driver/Labourer

About the Role:

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Industrial Vacuum Truck Driver/Labourer to join our team at our liquid waste facility in Coniston, Sudbury. As a key member of our Industrial Services team, you will be responsible for operating a variety of fleet, including hydro vacuum, dry vacuum, and liquid vacuum trucks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of tools and equipment, as well as the Industrial Services Shop.
  • Perform power washing and high-pressure water blasting as required.
  • Conduct line snaking, drain, and pipe inspections as needed.
  • Operate industrial cleaning equipment for chemical non-hazardous and hazardous wastes.
  • Assist with vacuum truck/plant operations as required.
  • Participate in confined space entry/rescue operations for Industrial Services projects.
  • Work in tight or cramped spaces.
  • Operate a respirator or supplied air breathing apparatus as required.
  • Perform shoveling, jack hammering, squeegee, scraping, and heavy lifting as needed.
  • Operate a pick-up truck, utility trailer, forklift, excavator, bobcat, etc.
  • Operate an aerial boom lift/scissor lift as required.

Requirements:

  • Class G license required for Labourers.
  • AZ/DZ license required for Drivers.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (80% labour, 20% driving).
  • Must be clean-shaven (required for fit testing/respirator).
  • Previous experience in industrial settings is an asset.
  • Previous experience with vacuum trucks, industrial power-washing, or water-blasting, or liquid waste industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with confined space entry or work at heights is an asset.
  • Experience working with respirators and supplied air systems is an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours/shifts, days, evenings, nights, and possibly weekends or holidays.
  • Must be comfortable with driving and maneuvering a pick-up truck and trailer unit.
  • Ability to multi-task, take direction, and work without supervision or within a team at times.
  • Ability to work in extreme hot or cold environments.
  • Ability to work at heights greater than 3 meters.
