Job Title: ECE Childcare Staff Position

Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified ECE Childcare Staff to join our team at Tsawout First Nation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing nurturing care and developmentally appropriate education to children in a group setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the centre meets all legal requirements, including licensing regulations.
  • Assist in the development of childcare programs and stay up-to-date on issues relating to program design and delivery.
  • Record and report accidents and serious occurrences.
  • Monitor children daily to ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act.
  • Communicate with parents and address any questions or issues that arise.
  • Respect confidentiality and maintain a professional and ethical demeanor.
  • Follow policies and procedures required by the Ministry.
  • Ensure proper forms are completed and records are up-to-date.
  • Guide and assist children in activities, routines, and transition times.
  • Input attendance on a monthly basis and follow up to ensure accounts are current.
  • Prepare progress reports and discuss them with parents and staff.
  • Prepare and produce written documents to meet program information and communication needs.
  • Communicate with the Supervisor and family to arrange alternate pick-up for late children.
  • Maintain children's attendance records, emergency information, and assist with the daily log book.
  • Collect medication information from parents and inform staff.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Maintain the health and safety of children, including implementing monthly fire drills.

Requirements:

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or degree.
  • 1-2 years' related experience.
  • Registered member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Education.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate.
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check required.
  • Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act and licensing and legislative compliance.
  • Experience working with infant to junior children.
  • Solid understanding of child development.
  • Ability to maintain effective work relationships with families, colleagues, and service providers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work closely with other team members.
  • Sensitivity and respect for individual and cultural differences.
  • Knowledge of First Nations Culture and Language an asset.
  • Knowledge of community an asset.
  • Adequate energy level and ability to meet physical demands of the job.
