Pauquachin First Nation is seeking to hire an **Early Childhood Educator (ECE)**. Operating under the direct supervision of the Head Start Manager, the **ECE **assists with the planning and implementation of activities for Pauquachin First Nation (PFN) children, families and community to enhance child development as well as to collaborate as a part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that PFN children have access to the services they need. The **ECE **plays an important role to promote the early childhood stages of growth and development of the Head Start Daycare children. All Head Start programming supports and includes the delivery of culture and language, education, health promotion, nutrition, social support, and parental and family involvement.

Preference may be given to persons of Aboriginal ancestry and/or having knowledge of the Hul’q’umi’num’ culture and traditions.

The wage range for this position is $29.00 - 31.00 per hour.

**Education and Experience**
- Diploma or certificate in Early Childhood Education; and
- Valid Licence to Practice with the Early Childhood Educator registry; and
- 2 years’ experience working in a daycare or other ECE environment preferred;
- Experience planning and implementing curriculum and achieving outcomes an asset;
- Valid FoodSafe Level 1 certificate an asset;
- Possession of a valid WHMIS certificate an asset;
- Clean criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector required;
- Valid Child Safe first aid and CPR certificate as per the Child Care Licensing requirements;
- Class 5 driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and a clean driver’s abstract an asset;

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

- working in a daycare or other ECE environment: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- license to practice registration number with BC ECE (required)
- Diploma or certificate in Early Childhood Education (required)
