Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of properties to identify potential hazards and recommend strategies for mitigation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with underwriting teams, policyholders, and broker partners to provide expert guidance on risk management and loss prevention.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing risk assessments, recommendations, and implementation plans for clients.
  • Analyze and interpret industry-related codes and standards, including the Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, and National Fire Protection Association standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement special loss prevention projects, including whitepapers, technical guides, and presentations.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a technical or engineering field, such as fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, or building construction.
  • Proven experience in a loss prevention role, preferably within the insurance industry.
  • Industry-related designations, such as Chartered Insurance Professional, Canadian Risk Management, or National Fire Protection Association programs, are considered assets.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-related codes and standards, including the Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, and National Fire Protection Association standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
