Optical Engineer Specialist for Food and Agriculture Innovation

The role of Senior Optics Engineer at Savormetrics involves contributing to the development of innovative sensing solutions designed for the food and agriculture sector.

As a successful individual, you will immediately contribute by designing optical sensors based on free space optical elements, considering manufacturability. You will work closely with the Director, Product Development to ensure the designed optical elements integrate seamlessly into products. The selected candidate will collaborate with customers to incorporate usability needs for seamless adoption.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

  • A Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a technical equivalent with a background in optics, or a Master's Degree with significant commercial/industry experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in free-space and integrated optical systems design.
  • Experience with software/hardware interfacing would be an asset.

Technical Knowledge:

  • A strong understanding and extensive experience with one of Zeemax, Code V, or equivalent software.
  • A strong understanding and extensive experience with Matlab.
  • Strong experience with setting up lab setups using free space optical setups.
  • Strong experience and understanding of spectroscopy.
  • An understanding of integrated optical system designs.
  • Experience with Microfabrication processes would be an asset.

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $160,000 per year, commensurate with experience, along with a dynamic and flexible work environment that promotes continuous learning and innovation.
