Dairy Farm Laborer

We are seeking a skilled Dairy Farm Worker to join our team at JobsPassport. As a key member of our dairy farm operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our dairy cattle, as well as maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our milking operations.
Key Responsibilities- Animal Care: Provide daily care for dairy cattle, including feeding, watering, and monitoring their health and well-being. Assist with the birthing process and provide postnatal care to newborn calves. Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the farm veterinarian.
- Milking Operations: Operate milking equipment and machinery to milk cows efficiently. Ensure proper milking hygiene and sanitation standards are maintained. Monitor milk production and identify any abnormalities or issues with milking equipment.
- Barn Maintenance: Clean and maintain barns, milking parlors, and other farm facilities. Bedding management: Ensure clean and comfortable bedding for cows. Repair and maintain farm infrastructure, including fences, gates, and feeding equipment.
- Field Work: Assist with pasture management, including rotational grazing and field maintenance. Harvest and store feed for winter months, such as hay and silage. Operate farm machinery for tasks like mowing, raking, and baling hay.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of herd health, production, and breeding activities. Keep track of inventory, including feed and supplies. Follow farm protocols for data entry and record-keeping systems.
- Health and Safety: Follow farm safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including gloves and boots. Report any safety hazards or incidents to farm management promptly.
- Teamwork and Communication: Work collaboratively with other farm workers and management to achieve farm goals. Communicate effectively with coworkers to ensure tasks are completed efficiently. Provide support and assistance during busy periods and times of high workload.
- Experience: Previous experience working on a dairy farm is beneficial but not always required. Training may be provided on the job.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
- Animal Handling Skills: Comfortable working with livestock and handling dairy cattle safely and efficiently.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of farm machinery and equipment operation is advantageous.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions carefully and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal communication skills to interact with coworkers and follow instructions from farm management.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by farm schedules and seasonal demands.
