About the Role

The Building Maintenance Technician III is a key member of our facilities operations team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. This includes performing routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, as well as troubleshooting and repairing equipment as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed, using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify potential issues and prevent downtime.
  • Respond to service requests and perform repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on industry best practices and new technologies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.
  • Minimum 3 years experience providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating ventilation and air conditions systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
  • Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair (as per applicable qualifications) mechanical and other building systems and equipment.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC Systems.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Mentoring skills required to support lower level technician's development.
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise.
  • Must strictly adhere to Health and Safety policies including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be capable of obtaining appropriate security clearance.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution.
  • Provincial HVAC or apprentice license (ex: Gasfitter I & II license refrigeration license).
