Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Mental Health and Addictions Support Worker to join our team in Bella Coola, BC. This is a unique opportunity to work in a supportive environment and make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with mental health and addiction challenges.

About the Role

As a Mental Health and Addictions Support Worker, you will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse or another regulated healthcare professional to perform a variety of non-direct and/or non-clinical duties to support other team members and individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges and their family/caregivers, to maximize their independence.

Responsibilities
  • Work with clients to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to clients and their families
  • Assist with daily living activities and provide transportation as needed
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

Qualifications
  • Grade 12 (and English 12) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Valid BC Driver's License may be required as local area travel may require the use of a vehicle
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively, including working with clients living with mental illness and/or substance use challenges
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
