We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our Building Infrastructure Design and Construction Division, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects involving the design, construction, and/or renovation of large multi-million-dollar public buildings.
As a Project Manager, you will provide leadership and management of construction projects for Provincial Government building infrastructure projects. You will be accountable for ensuring projects are carried out in compliance with Public Works policies pertaining to scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
Primary Accountabilities- Manage contracts with contractors and consultants;
- Monitor and update project costs, schedule, and scope;
- Lead project teams in identifying and resolving issues and removing roadblocks;
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks;
- Liaise between Public Works and client groups throughout the duration of the projects;
- Ensure safety is of top priority and work is carried out in accordance with the OHS Act and Regulations, as well as Department standards and policies;
- Provide a smooth transition to end users by ensuring the building is ready for occupancy.
You will be the key point of contact who keeps Public Works' senior and financial managers and the stakeholder departments advised of the status of the projects.
Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you must have one of the following qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering institution with a minimum of six (6) years of experience managing large and complex building construction projects. You must also be (or meet the requirements to be) actively registered as a Full Member (P.Eng) with Engineers Nova Scotia (ENS); or
- Architecture degree from an accredited architecture institution with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience managing large and complex building construction projects. You must also be (or meet the requirements to be) actively registered as a Full Member (Architect) with the Nova Scotia Association of Architects (NSAA).
Candidates not currently registered, but who can be immediately registered, with ENS or NSAA immediately upon hire will be considered.
