Automotive Parts Associate

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Automotive Parts Associate to join our team at Canadian Tire - Bayers Lake, Halifax (Store 465).
About the Role: As an Automotive Parts Associate, you will play a critical role in supporting our Automotive Licensed Technicians in locating and providing the right parts for auto repairs in the Automotive Service Centre. You will be responsible for using a computerized automotive parts and service look-up system, including estimates for repair orders, ordering, controlling, and maintaining inventory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Respond to and handle internal and external customer inquiries, requests, and concerns in a timely manner. Ensure that the Automotive Service Center team maximizes the customer experience by sourcing, stocking, and providing timely and correct vehicle components as requisitioned by the customers and/or Licensed Automotive Technicians.
- Operations: Serve Licensed Automotive Technicians and process their requests for parts and tires. Liaise with Automotive Service Centre staff to inform immediately of all received parts and tire orders. Source and order automotive parts, shop supplies, and products through authorized suppliers. Follow established procedures regarding the ordering and sale of parts and tires for the Automotive Service Centre. Verify correct vehicle information and parts and tires applications for look-up and ordering. Quote parts and tire pricing and availability. Locate products in the warehouse. Maintain and control accuracy of inventory, including shop specialty tools. Verify accuracy of all outside orders by matching product descriptions to product numbers. Walk assigned sections to understand what needs to be accomplished on a daily basis. Restock parts and tire areas with stock received. Test and fill batteries. Test starters and alternators. Operate the battery filling station as per training received. Liaise with Automotive Service Centre staff to ensure estimates are accurate and professionally formatted. Maintain housekeeping standards of workstations and inventory area and in service reception/work area. Stock shelves in storage display areas. Secure warehouse area, parts, and tire inventory from unauthorized persons. Process returns, warranties, and castings as required. Record lost sales. Report stolen and damaged goods to Management. Assist in back-up for telephone calls. Participate in meetings and all training as required and listen to feedback to improve their own abilities. Comply with company, store, department, and Automotive Service Centre policies. Abide by all health and safety programs and regulations. Report any observed or potential hazards immediately. Use professional language and maintain a professional appearance (e.g., uniform, hygiene, grooming, and name tag) when interacting with others. Complete other tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated automotive subject matter knowledge and interest.
- Basic math and typing skills.
- Good working knowledge of automotive parts lookup system.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision with computerized systems.
- Experience in a similar role in a Canadian Tire store or Service Centre is considered an asset.
