Aircraft Technical Trainer Job Description

At IMP Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Technical Trainer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about training and development.

About the Role:

This position involves overseeing and coordinating all support activities on the CH-149 Cormorant Cockpit Procedures Trainer and Cockpit Emulators. You will be responsible for conducting all aspects of course programming and delivery, including developing course material, preparing instructor notes for lessons, and instructing A/C systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and direction of all aspects, including personnel, of the Cormorant Training Center while reporting to the Training Development Manager;
  • Responsibility for conducting all aspects of course programming and delivery, including:
  • Course material development;
  • Instructor note preparation;
  • Instructing A/C systems;
  • Ensuring all course material is up-to-date and current to RCAF Standards;
  • Liaising with 442 Sqn OTF;
  • Ensuring welfare of student while on course, administration and compassionate needs;
  • Analyzing training problems and recommending appropriate corrective measures;
  • Directing and/or assisting in training development projects;
  • Planning future training resource requirements for the school;
  • Ensuring an effective standards monitoring system is maintained in the school;
  • Development of training quality control activities;
  • Ensuring the provision of servicing and maintenance of all training equipment installed and used;
  • Liaising with HIA training departments and other schools on training matters;
  • Maintaining up-to-date documentation of all authorized courses to RCAF standards;
  • Replacing Site Manager, Deputy Site Manager, Production Supervisor on an as required basis;
  • Oversighting the development of new course and training requirements IAW direction provided by the Crown;
  • Oversighting the development of training specifications IAW direction provided by the Crown;
  • Flying or travelling as necessary in support of training or operational requirements;
  • Adhering to policies, procedures, and directives established by the company.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a recognized aircraft maintenance course or apprenticeship program and hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license or be qualified as aircraft aviation technical with the Canadian Armed Forces or equivalent commercial experience;
  • A background as a Senior Technical Instructor in the Canadian Forces or an equivalent level of management/technical experience in a commercial setting;
  • Five years aviation operational/maintenance experience and operational experience as a Flight Engineer is a strong asset;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Training Management and demonstratable skill in instructing A/C technical courses;
  • Ability to manage all administrative aspects of an Aircraft training cell;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, including power plants, flight controls, dynamic systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, environmental, basic structures, avionics systems and power generation and distribution systems;
  • Advanced ability to use both standard and training computer programs and specialized instructional packages;
  • Demonstrating a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies;
  • Eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
