Job Title: Infection Control Manager

The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is seeking a highly skilled Infection Control Manager to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) program for all patients, visitors, and professional support services within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, retain, and develop staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality IPAC services
  • Manage the financial aspects of the IPAC program, including operating, consulting, and research accounts
  • Collaborate with the Medical Lead to oversee all aspects of the IPAC program
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all individuals within the organization
  • Provide support and guidance to the Region as an expert resource
  • Participate in professional development and education activities to ensure excellence in the provision of IPAC services
Requirements:
  • Masters level preparation in a health-related field (e.g. Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or Public Health)
  • Minimum four (4) years Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field from an accredited university
  • Current Certification in Canadian Infection Control (CIC)
  • Minimal of five (5) years experience working in Infection Control within Acute Care or healthcare environment with a minimum of two (2) years working in leadership/supervisory role
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a challenging healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current infection control issues related to patient care and the healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of microbiology, statistics, and epidemiological principles
  • Demonstrated outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and organizational skills
