About the Role

  • Conduct in-depth analyses of complex accounting activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP and BCUC orders/directives.
  • Perform financial and statistical tests to validate revenue, sales margin, gas inventory, and customer accounts receivable aging.
  • Examine and control general ledger balances, journal entries, and prepare reconciliations and working papers.
  • Develop and maintain reports for internal stakeholders, external auditors, and other relevant parties.
  • Research and analyze accounting treatment options for revenues/costs, making recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports prior to external release.
  • Participate in implementing new systems, methods, and procedures, including training departmental staff.

Requirements

  • Completion of a degree from a recognized accredited institution.
  • Recognition as a professional accountant (CPA).
  • Three years' experience in accounting at a senior level, with a strong emphasis on financial analysis and a deep understanding of accounting theory (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of ERP accounting systems (preferably SAP).
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Excel.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond to demanding problems and interact with management/auditor inquiries.
