About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Maintenance Technician Apprentice – Industrial Mechanic to join our team. As a Maintenance Technician Apprentice, you will be responsible for assisting our experienced maintenance team with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of mill equipment. You will also be responsible for acquiring your Journeyperson certification and working towards becoming a certified Millwright.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the company's Mission Zero journey by ensuring all work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mill equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is running efficiently and effectively.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to identify and implement process improvements.
- Enter work requests in a timely fashion with detailed information.
- Provide information to support the maintenance planners to plan and estimate work.
- Support and adhere to key processes such as the Management of Change (MOC), Problem-Solving Design Making (PSDM), Risk Assessment Matrix (RAM) and Integrity Management System (IMS).
- Participate in incident investigations and adhere to corrective actions.
- Review and apply continuous improvement to safe work practices, procedures, and standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical Technologist Diploma will be considered an asset.
- Previous participation in the RAP program within MPR will be considered an asset.
- Strong technical abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment specifications, engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables as required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and a computerized maintenance management system, specifically Avantis is considered an asset.
- Pulp mill and industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Proven safety-conscious individual.
- Strong understanding of maintenance and operations.
