Job Description

The Senior Kitchen Professional assists with various areas of line preparation including scratch cooking, finishing, plating, and garnishing. They are responsible for maintaining an updated mis-en-place list, meeting quality standards, and ensuring the cleanliness of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work effectively as part of the team to produce high-quality food.
  • Ensure that workstation opening and closing procedures are completed to standard.
  • Complete daily station checklists to ensure everything is prepared for service.
  • Prepare necessary food items as directed by the Chef de Partie / Sous Chef in accordance with standards in a timely and efficient manner to ensure there is no interruption to guest service.
  • Properly and safely operate kitchen equipment, report any required maintenance or repairs to the Executive Chef / Chef de Cuisine immediately.
  • Keep overproduction and food waste to a minimum to reduce food cost expenses.
  • Adhere to recipes and menu specifications to maintain consistency and ensure all standards are met.
  • Fill in the daily production board and daily ordering requirements as needed.
  • Maintain standards by keeping workstations and the kitchen area clean and organized, always adhering to health and safety practices including safe food handling and preparation.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of all food storerooms, including fridges and freezers.
  • Properly label, store, and rotate food items to prevent excess waste.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year's experience in a professional kitchen.
  • A passion for the culinary arts.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
  • A positive and respectful attitude.
  • A quick learner and ability to retain knowledge and skills.
  • The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A valid FOODSAFE Certificate is required.
  • WHMIS certification is preferred.
  • Must be able to stand up to eight hours, and move, lift, carry, and place objects weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, a minimum of three days per week (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) based on business volumes and operational demands.
