The Medical Laboratory Technologist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by conducting various laboratory tests that assist in diagnosing and treating patients. This position requires a strong educational background and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications- Education: Completion of a college or CEGEP program, or a non-university certificate or diploma lasting between 1 to 2 years.
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
This role is primarily situated within hospital medical laboratories, where the technologist will engage in a variety of tasks essential for patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Log and prepare patient samples for laboratory testing.
- Conduct blood group, type, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes.
- Collect samples and perform additional laboratory tests as required.
- Clinical chemistry or biochemistry
- Hematology
- Medical chemistry
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Capability to perform under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering teamwork.
