Accounting Department Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Department Manager to join our team at EQI Ltd. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Accounting department.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage Accounting department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, organizing and coordinating the allocation of resources.
- Determine and analyze financial business requirements in partnership with all departments.
- Prepare/review and analyze monthly statements, including consolidation of results for all business operations.
- Coordinate and prepare annual operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor, manage, and control cash requirements of the company on a daily basis.
- Responsible for compliance with government reporting and tax filings (HST, WSIB, Payroll, etc).
- Responsible for year-end audit and report preparation and working with external accountants.
- Manage and develop accounting and payroll staff.
- Maintain the capital asset system and records.
- Calculate factory and department overhead rates.
- Work closely with Sales and Operations to complete the monthly financial closing process.
- Manage finance department (A/P & A/R) and ensure work assigned is completed on time with accuracy.
Requirements:
- Professional Accounting Designation Preferred but not required (CPA – CA, CMA, CGA).
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field.
- Proficient in MS Office, with high level of proficiency in Excel.
- Financial user of ERP systems (Epicor).
- 5+ years of experience managing an accounting department preferably in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment.
- High level of organizational and analytical skills.
- A curious leader who pays attention to detail and is dedicated to continuous improvement.
- Team player with a hands-on approach and leads by example.
- Superior troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations to management and external contacts.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
