Job Summary:

MT Talent Solutions Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Food Safety Specialist to join their team. As a key member of the Quality department, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's food products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the supplier approval program, ensuring all suppliers meet the required standards.
  • Conduct risk evaluations and assessments to identify potential food safety risks.
  • Investigate supplier nonconformities and implement corrective actions to prevent future issues.
  • Develop and maintain high-level standards for suppliers to ensure food safety.
  • Perform facility verification activities and virtual audits to ensure suppliers meet regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and review supplier performance, contributing to KPIs that demonstrate the effectiveness of the supplier management system.
  • Support product recalls and manage mock recalls and traceability exercises as required.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a related food safety/quality role, with auditing experience.
  • Experience in frozen foods and/or produce-related manufacturing/distribution is preferred.
  • Relevant certification/qualification programs, such as Lead Auditor or PCQI, are strongly preferred.
  • Strong English communication skills are required, with other language skills an asset.
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and organized, with a strong sense of values and integrity.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and adhere to required processes.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite and PowerBI.
